Extraordinary Incident: MoD Uaz Hits Pedestrian

Today, on July 12, a fatal hit-and-run accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 11:20 AM, a Uaz Patriot vehicle with Ministry of Defense license plates hit a pedestrian in the administrative area of the village of Jil on the Chambarak-Vardenis highway, resulting in the death of 69-year-old Vladimir G., a resident of Gegharkunik.

According to shamshyan.com, the driver did not flee the scene and attempted to assist the victim, who died on the spot. Subsequently, the driver reported the incident to the Chambarak police department and the Military Police of the Sevan garrison of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.

The responsible officer at the 1-77 operational management center, Ervand Aleksanyan, informed the Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia about the accident. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and law enforcement authorities are working to determine the identity of the driver.

According to sources from Shamshyan, the driver works as a deputy commander in a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
