Iran's Stance on Geopolitical Situation in the Region: Shamkhani to Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has received a delegation led by Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Prime Minister welcomed Mr. Shamkhani’s visit to Armenia and emphasized the importance of continuing the development of friendly and fraternal relations with Iran. “High-level reciprocal visits are important for resolving this issue. I am pleased to note that we have managed to create a very good working atmosphere with the President of Iran, Mr. Raisi. I am also happy to see that there are good working relations among our other partners, which is fitting for two neighboring and friendly countries,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Mr. Shamkhani’s visit would be effective in the context of bilateral agenda items. The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the IRI thanked the Prime Minister for the reception and conveyed warm greetings from Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
Ali Shamkhani noted that Iran is also interested in developing and strengthening relations with Armenia in all fields. In this context, the interlocutors discussed several agenda items for bilateral cooperation. They exchanged views on ensuring regional stability and security.
Ali Shamkhani emphasized that Iran considers any attempt to change the geopolitical situation in the region as unacceptable and noted that his country supports the process of unblocking infrastructures within the framework of preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.
The interlocutors highlighted that the basis for the development of Armenian-Iranian cooperation in various directions is the strengthening of economic ties. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan and Ali Shamkhani stressed the necessity of expanding existing cooperation in trade, infrastructure, energy, industry, and other areas. The parties discussed both current projects and those of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Pashinyan asked to convey his warm greetings to both President Raisi and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
