Major Car Accident in Gegharkunik Province: Driver Transported to Hospital

Today, on July 5, a major car accident occurred in Gegharkunik Province. Around 12:20 PM, a collision took place on the 9th kilometer of the Sevan-Martuni-Getap highway involving a Mercedes G500 with Russian license plates and a ZIL trailer.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, one person was helped by citizens, who were young men. They managed to pull the driver of the Mercedes out of the vehicle and transported him in their own car to the Sevan Medical Center.

Shamshyan's information indicates that police and investigators have determined that preliminary reports suggest the cause of the accident was a BMW vehicle, which, according to the ZIL driver, created an emergency situation that led to the collision. Police and investigators found a BMW vehicle at a nearby rest area, which is believed to have caused the emergency situation.

The police and the investigative department are working to identify the drivers involved. By the order of the investigator, the vehicles are being transported to the secure area of the Sevan Police Department.

According to the photojournalist, the first responders to the injured individual were residents of Gegharkunik Province, and the person who transported the injured to the hospital was the brother of S. Janikyan, the head of the Sevan Police Department.
