Four Cars Damaged Nearby, Documents Burned: Emergency Situations Ministry Reveals New Details About Explosion

On July 6 at 09:07 AM, the Regional Crisis Management Center of Aragatsotn received a call reporting an explosion and fire at a bank in Ashtarak city. Two firefighting units from the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ regional rescue administration were dispatched to the scene.

It was determined that the explosion occurred under still unknown circumstances at the "Unibank" branch located at 10 Vardges Petrosyan Street, leading to a fire outbreak. As a result, one citizen has died, and six others have been injured.

The injured individuals include H.K. (born in 1991), H.Ch. (born in 1996), L.A. (born in 1996), A.M. (born in 1972), H.Kh. (born in 1978), L.Sh. (born in 1996), and R.Kh. (born in 1963), all of whom were hospitalized at the Ashtarak medical center. H.K.’s condition was assessed as critical, while H.Ch., H.Kh., and L.Sh. were in moderate condition. L.A. and A.M. had satisfactory conditions. H.Ch., H.Kh., and L.Sh. were transferred to the “National Burn Center” in Yerevan, while the others were discharged after receiving appropriate medical care. R.Kh. unfortunately passed away.

The fire was contained by 09:25 AM and extinguished by 09:54 AM. In the bank's archival room, approximately 4 cubic meters of documents were burned, while the windows and door of the customer service area, along with a 30 square meter interior wall were damaged. Additionally, three vehicles, a "Mazda," an "Opel," and two "Mercedes-Benz" models parked nearby, as well as a window of a ticket office in the adjacent area were also damaged.
