CEO of Gazprom Contractor Found Dead
Astrakhan, Russia - The body of Yuri Voronov, the founder and head of Astra-Shipping, a contractor for Gazprom, has been discovered in St. Petersburg. According to 47news, a man's body was found in a swimming pool with a gunshot wound to the head at one of the elite cottage villages called 'Marine Terraces' on July 5.
Preliminary data from forensic examinations, referenced by 47news.ru, indicate that the shot was fired at close range. 'A Grand Power traumatic pistol was found nearby. Several used cartridges were lying on the ground,' the publication reports. Forensic experts believe the shot was fired between midnight and the early morning hours of July 4.
Police have verified that no one entered or exited the house based on footage from security cameras installed nearby since July 1. The circumstances surrounding the businessman's death are under investigation.
The deceased's wife reported that her husband left the city on July 1 and had been drinking heavily for about two weeks prior. She admitted that Voronov had started to consume alcohol after suffering significant financial losses due to conflicts with partners and contractors.
