Finland and Sweden to Sign NATO Accession Protocol

Finland and Sweden have today commenced and completed the first phase of negotiations for joining NATO. An accession protocol will be signed on July 5, according to a statement released by the alliance and reported by TASS.

"Finland and Sweden concluded negotiations for NATO membership on July 4, in accordance with agreements reached at the NATO summit in Madrid. Both countries have officially confirmed their commitment and capability to fulfill the political, legal, and military obligations outlined for NATO membership. Following the conclusion of talks, allies are set to sign the accession protocols for Finland and Sweden at NATO headquarters on July 5," the statement said.
