Why specifically Vahe Hakobyan and Ishkhan Saghatelyan? There are 10 names on the CC list.
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports. Yesterday, the issue discussed at the closed session of the ruling "Civil Contract" party’s faction quickly became the most circulated news on the internet. The CC has decided to strip the parliamentary positions from the deputy speaker of the National Assembly from the Dashnaktsutyun party, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, and the chair of the Permanent Committee on Economic Issues and president of the "Reviving Armenia" party, Vahe Hakobyan.
However, before that, according to well-informed sources from "Zhoghovurd", the decision-making part of the CC discussed the issue with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The Prime Minister indicated that he is 50/50 on this matter – he is supportive of both stripping opposition members of their positions and mandates, as well as against it. Thus, the ruling party members, energized by Nikol Pashinyan's message, rushed to create an illusion that they had decided the issue within the faction themselves.
In reality, the authorities have long had a target on several opposition figures, including Ishkhan Saghatelyan, who publicly addressed Pashinyan with disrespect, and Vahe Hakobyan, who is not forgiven for organizing insults against the Syunik region. He has stated that "Nikol is a political corpse," among other remarks. Moreover, regarding these two MPs, Nikol Pashinyan has decided to deprive them of their parliamentary mandates based on absenteeism. However, according to our information, this list does not end here; more names will emerge soon that the authorities are preparing to strip of their mandates. The list consists of 10 individuals.
