The Newly Constructed Road Passes Through Hills and Has a Quite Complicated Relief: An Azerbaijani Expert Elaborates

Azerbaijani expert Garnik Davtyan wrote on his Facebook page: “To better understand what the new road, which bypasses the Berdzor (Lachin) corridor, looks like, I suggest taking a look:

Image 1  - It is visible that the newly constructed road mainly passes through hills and has a rather complicated relief.

  - The road does not present strategic significance for them; there are no gas pipelines, electricity, or other communication lines passing through that area. For example, in the case of a snowstorm, the road can remain closed for a long time due to the impossibility of clearing it.

Image 2  - This is the existing Berdzor (Lachin) corridor. The section of the road has strategic importance.

  - The Berdzor region of Artsakh, with its Berdzor urban center, provides the factor of Armenian presence in the region. Handing it over to Azerbaijan would mean the collapse of Armenian presence.”
