Tragic Car Accident in Ararat Province: Contract Soldier Killed, Family Hospitalized
On June 20, a tragic car accident occurred in Ararat Province. Around 5:30 PM, a 45-year-old resident of Ararat, Karen M., lost control of his VAZ 2109 vehicle on the bridge in Shahumyan village along the Yerevan-Yeraskh highway. The car veered off the roadway and after traveling approximately 10 meters, ended up upside down in an empty water conduit.
According to Shamshyan.com, as a result of the accident, Karen M. died on the spot. His wife and two minor children, who were in the vehicle, received first aid from the medical team that arrived shortly after the incident and were then transported to the Artashat Medical Center.
Rescue workers extricated the deceased from the vehicle and moved him to the ambulance. Investigators at the scene confirmed that the deceased was serving as a contract soldier in a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. Investigations into the circumstances of the accident are ongoing. The police and investigative department are working to identify the hospitalized individuals. According to G. Shamshyan’s reports, their lives are not in danger.
