Children Born in Kherson Region After February 24 Automatically Granted Russian Citizenship
Children born in the Kherson region after February 24, as well as orphans, will automatically receive Russian citizenship. This was stated to RIA Novosti by Kirill Stremusov, the deputy head of the Kherson regional military-civil administration.
“Children born in the Kherson region after February 24 will automatically receive citizenship of the Russian Federation, and orphans will also be registered as citizens of the Russian Federation,” he said.
The day before, Stremusov mentioned that there is a “high demand” for Russian passports in the region. According to him, over ten thousand applications have been submitted for their registration.
During the special operation, Russian troops have taken control of the Kherson region and the coastal areas of the Zaporizhzhia region in southern Ukraine. New civil-military administrations have been formed in these areas, Russian television and radio broadcasts have begun, and trade links with Crimea are being restored.
The first residents of the provinces received their documents on June 11.
