Unpleasant Odor and Unsanitary Conditions Prevail Near Kindergarten
For a long time, residents of Vardashen 6th Street in the Erebuni administrative district and the staff of the nearby kindergarten, along with the parents of the students, have been at a loss regarding which authority to address in order to eliminate the unsanitary conditions in the area.
On June 9, during an interview with photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the residents stated: “Because of an elderly woman, our street has turned into a mini dump for Nubarashen. You can find any garbage you want here. The entire area is permeated with an unpleasant odor, unhygienic conditions—it’s completely filthy. We have contacted the Erebuni Police Department multiple times, reached out to the administrative staff, but for some reason, they consider themselves powerless. We don’t require much; we just want a clean and tidy street, not a pigsty. A few times, we have tried to clean the area ourselves, but the elderly woman, who also has psychological issues, does not allow it. Now we wonder whether mice, scorpions, and snakes must roam the street and harm a child before the authorities decide to resolve the issue and take decisive action.”
According to G. Shamshyan's information, the head of the Erebuni administrative district, Balayan, is also aware of the issue and has instructed that the area be cleaned and the garbage removed; however, the resident accumulating the garbage is obstructing the work of the municipal employees.
