Davit Vardanian, Killed by Sniper Fire, Posthumously Awarded

Upon the initiative of the Prime Minister, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has posthumously awarded the Combat Service Medal to conscript soldier Davit Vardanian, who was killed by enemy sniper fire, according to the President's press service.

Based on the Prime Minister's recommendation and pursuant to Article 136 of the Constitution and Articles 5.3.1 and 5.3.9 of the Law on State Awards and Honorary Titles of the Republic of Armenia, Davit Vardanian, conscript soldier of the N military unit of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, has been posthumously awarded the Combat Service Medal for his bravery and selfless dedication while defending the borders of the Homeland.

It is reminded that on May 28, at around 10:40 AM, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire with various caliber weapons, including sniper rifles, towards Armenian positions located in the southeastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Conscript soldier Davit Vardanian was wounded by gunfire, and his life could not be saved.
