Britain Condemns Death Sentence for Its Citizens in Donetsk

The UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has condemned the ruling to impose the death penalty on British soldiers fighting for Ukraine, calling it illegitimate, according to a post on social media from the politician.

“I strongly condemn the sentences given to Aiden Aslin and Sean Pinner... They are prisoners of war. This is a false decision that has absolutely no legitimacy. My thoughts are with their families. We continue to do everything possible to support them,” the head of the foreign office wrote.

Earlier, it was reported that the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic had ruled to impose the death penalty on British mercenaries Sean Pinner and Aiden Aslin, as well as Saadoun Brahim, originally from Morocco, who were accused of participating in military operations on behalf of Ukraine.

The leader of the DNR, Denis Pushilin, called the ruling a “logical outcome” of the trial.
