Giant Tree Falls in Yerevan, Damaging BMW, Mitsubishi Pajero, Škoda, and Other Vehicles
A significant incident occurred in Yerevan today, June 8. Around 12:10 PM, a portion of a massive tree broke and fell in front of building 49 on Koghbaci Street in the Central administrative district.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan at the scene, several parked vehicles, including a BMW, Mitsubishi Pajero, Škoda Rapid, and another Mitsubishi model, were damaged as a result of the tree's fall. Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries.
The police are working to identify the owners of the damaged vehicles. Residents gathered at the scene expressed their frustration, saying: “We don’t know who will compensate for this damage. We have repeatedly contacted the Central District administration and the City Hall to address this issue, but it seems they are ignoring us completely, burying their heads in the sand and only thinking about their own interests. If they had responded promptly to our warnings, this incident could have been avoided. The only consolation is that, thankfully, no one was hurt.
There are many similar trees on this street, and if city officials do not take action after this incident, there is no guarantee that another tragic event won’t happen due to the fall of decaying trees. We even don’t know who will compensate us for our losses.”
