Body of a Man Discovered Among Metal Debris with Signs of Violent Death: Investigative Committee

In the central area of metal debris near the stop at the Chobankar intersection in Ejmiadzin, the body of a man exhibiting signs of violent death has been discovered. The Armenian Investigative Committee has provided further details.

“The Vagharsapat investigative division of the Armavir regional investigative directorate of the RA Investigative Committee is undertaking urgent investigative and procedural actions aimed at uncovering the circumstances of the murder of a resident of Ejmiadzin city. The report of the incident was received on May 31, 2022, at 13:55, informing of the presence of a male body near the Armavir penitentiary,” said the statement.

Immediately dispatched to the scene, the investigative-operational group found the body of a man in the central area of metal debris near the stop at the Chobankar intersection. During the preparation of materials, necessary measures were taken to ascertain the identity of the victim, who was identified as a 58-year-old resident of Ejmiadzin city. Preliminary data indicates that his death occurred during the period of May 30-31, 2022, due to multiple injuries sustained.

Considering the legal basis for initiating a criminal case present in the prepared materials, the Vagharsapat investigative division of the Armavir regional investigative directorate has initiated a criminal case under Article 104, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. During the pre-trial investigation, several investigative actions have been conducted, samples have been collected, the clothing worn by the victim has been seized, and a forensic medical examination of the body has been appointed to clarify significant circumstances pertaining to the criminal case.

Measures are being taken to clarify all the circumstances of the incident, identify the alleged perpetrator of the crime, and present him to the prosecuting body. Instructions have been given to the investigation body,” the report stated.
