59-Year-Old Man Arrested for Abusing 8-Year-Old Girl in Tavush

A 59-year-old man named Vardan K. has been arrested by the Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, following a grave incident in the region.

According to reports from Shamshyan.com, on May 27, the police received a call from a 37-year-old resident of Tavush who reported that her 8-year-old daughter, who was alone at home, was lured by Vardan K. from the backyard of their house into the bedroom. There, he proceeded to remove her clothing, exposing the girl, and subsequently committed lewd acts against her.

The distressing situation was interrupted when a neighbor, alerted by the child's screams, rushed to the scene. An operational group from the Berd police station, led by the head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Karapetyan, arrived promptly.

Vardan K. was taken into custody by the police and brought to the Berd police station, where he was subsequently presented to the Berd Investigative Division and arrested by the investigator.

The child has been referred to a forensic doctor for assessment.
