Without Comment: Araik Harutyunyan Met with Pashinyan in Yerevan

The spokesperson for the President of Artsakh, Lusine Avanesyan, does not deny that President Araik Harutyunyan is in Yerevan and has met with Prime Minister Pashinyan, but avoids commenting on the details.

According to circulating media reports, Artsakh President Araik Harutyunyan arrived in Armenia today under conditions of strict secrecy and had a meeting with Prime Minister Pashinyan at the Government building.

The occasion for the meeting, according to these sources, was the large public rally that took place in Stepanakert on May 28, during which residents expressed their discontent by chanting “Nikol the Traitor” as they marched through the city. Additionally, it seems that the statements and calls regarding the defense of Artsakh made during the rally have raised concerns for Pashinyan.

The information was attempted to be clarified with the spokesperson for the President of Artsakh, Lusine Avanesyan, who only remarked in response to inquiries that there would be no comments.

It is difficult to discern the reasons behind the secrecy surrounding President Harutyunyan’s visits to Armenia, as well as why his spokesperson is reluctant to answer whether he indeed met with Prime Minister Pashinyan today.
