National Security Service Director Awarded 11 Million Drams
The Director of the National Security Service, Armen Abazyan, has submitted his annual declaration for 2021. According to information from the Anti-Corruption Commission obtained by Tert.am, Armen Abazyan has declared a residential property and a land plot in Shirak as joint ownership, acquired in 2006 and 2010, respectively.
He declared 5 million drams in cash and a salary from the National Security Service amounting to 20 million 670 thousand drams. However, according to the law on the remuneration of public officials in Armenia, the calculation factor for the NSC director’s salary is set at 12, which means Armen Abazyan's monthly salary stands at 793 thousand 680 drams. Thus, his total annual salary amounts to 9 million 525 thousand drams. This indicates that Armen Abazyan has been awarded over 11 million drams annually.
Armen Abazyan's wife, Anahit Zakaryan, has declared a residence in Yerevan's Kentron district, of which she is the sole owner, a private house, and a land plot in Vanadzor, also solely owned by her, along with two land plots and one production-oriented building in Gyumri, again solely owned, and another production-oriented building in Gyumri, which is jointly owned. All these are purchases, except for one, whose origin has not been disclosed, nor has she indicated the years in which they were purchased. She has declared 650,000 drams in cash, 600,000 drams received as rental payment, and has not reported any funds in her bank accounts.
