EU Sanctions Do Not Prohibit Greek Ships from Transporting Russian Oil, Says Greek Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has announced that the sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia, which includes an oil embargo expected to be adopted in the coming days, does not prevent Greek shipowners from transporting Russian oil to third countries.

This statement was made during a press conference following an extraordinary EU summit in Brussels, as reported by RT. Mitsotakis added, “Less oil will be transported from Russia to Europe.”

It was previously revealed that all Greek companies importing Russian gas have transitioned to a new payment procedure for Gazprom. Additionally, Mitsotakis had earlier stated that the European economy cannot fully abandon supplies of Russian natural gas.
