Russia Not Planning to Use Tactical Nuclear Weapons in Ukraine, Says Ambassador in London
Russia is not planning to use tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine. This statement was made by Russia's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Andrey Kelin, in an interview with BBC Broadcasting Corporation, excerpts of which were aired on Saturday evening, as reported by TASS.
"Tactical nuclear weapons, according to Russian military doctrine, are generally not used in such conflicts," the diplomat stated, adding that this has no relation to the current operations.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to requests for assistance from the leaders of the Donbas republics. Following this, the United States, the EU, the UK, and several other countries imposed extensive sanctions against the Russian Federation.
