Better late than never: Zakharova calls Scholz's words plagiarism

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has drawn attention to the fact that the recent statements by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz regarding the formation of a multipolar world are plagiarism. She expressed this on her Telegram channel.

“Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that ‘when we realize that the world is starting to become multipolar, it should push society towards greater multilateralism, more international cooperation.’ Pure plagiarism or worse. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has been talking about the multipolarity and polycentricity of the world and continues to repeat this every year, having been the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation for more than 15 years,” Zakharova noted.

Zakharova also reminded that during the time of Yevgeny Primakov, who came to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996, the Russian Foreign Ministry operated on the understanding that the world was becoming multipolar, unlike the bipolar system of the Cold War.

“This understanding was reflected in the Foreign Policy Concept of 2000 at Primakov’s suggestion and from that point, it became our starting point in building international relations,” the diplomat said. According to her, if Berlin has only now understood this, it is only to be sympathized with them that it took them this long.

“However, better late than never. Probably, one day the situation around Ukraine will become as clear to Scholz as multipolarity,” Zakharova added.
