Artak Baglaryan Addresses Ilham Aliyev's Controversial Statements
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has once again made controversial statements, to which, in response, the delimitation and demarcation process with the Republic of Armenia and its outcomes should not affect the current and future status of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). This was stated by the State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, Artak Baglaryan, on his Telegram channel, presenting a number of observations with specific provisions.
“Ultimately, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not with the Republic of Armenia but with the Republic of Artsakh. The Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict has not been resolved, which is acknowledged by the entire world, regardless of particular differences in interests and formulations. If Azerbaijan wishes to close the chapter on the conflict and clarify the status of Artsakh, it can also carry out the delimitation and demarcation process with the Republic of Artsakh, while simultaneously returning our occupied territories and recognizing our independence.
The main principle of conflict resolution is the full realization and recognition of the right to self-determination of peoples. This is the international community's challenge to prove that, contrary to Aliyev's claims, there is indeed international law where the right to self-determination of peoples holds fundamental significance. Another important principle of international law is the non-use of force and the threat of force, which has also been grossly violated and is continuously being violated by Azerbaijan. Furthermore, today, Aliyev has once again threatened with the use of force, which is a clear signal to the international community to take preventive and punitive measures. Encouraging and ignoring deviant behavior gradually leads to international disasters, becoming part of international practice and customary law,” wrote Artak Baglaryan.
