Amulsar Mine Operations Planned to Start Next Year
The operation of the Amulsar mine is scheduled to begin in 2023. This information was reported by Radar Armenia from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia. In response to inquiries, the ministry conveyed that the resumption of the Amulsar project is included in the Government's agenda and is under the attention of the Ministry of Economy. "Currently, the company is focused on financing the project to complete the construction of the mine, and it plans to begin operations in 2023," the ministry stated.
It is noteworthy that the issue of the mine's operation was reignited following U.S. Ambassador Tracy's visit to Amulsar on April 20. According to the embassy's press release, the ambassador encouraged the rapid and transparent resolution of outstanding disputes related to the project, welcomed the commitment of "Lydian" to uphold the highest international standards in labor and environmental matters, and noted that this project has significant potential to become a major boost for the growth of the Armenian economy.
Regarding the visit of the U.S. ambassador to Amulsar, the Ministry of Economy also informed that one of the two owners of "Lydian Armenia" is the American company "Orion Mine Finance," making the U.S. ambassador's interest in the Amulsar mine understandable.
