Western Media's Attitude Changed Sharply: What Zakharova Noticed

The attitude of Western media towards manifestations of Nazism in Ukraine has changed since the start of the Russian special operation to defend Donbas, with Western journalists beginning to ignore this issue. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, as reported by TASS.

She drew attention to the media analysis by journalist Jason McKenny, who compared the depiction of manifestations of Nazism in Ukraine by Western media before and after the start of the special operation.

“Everything changed immediately after the start of the special operation. Despite the obvious facts of numerous violent Nazi practices prevailing in Ukraine, the Western media immediately went silent. Moreover, the institutions that theoretically should have fought against the popularization of Nazism, including the State Museum in Auschwitz, the Holocaust studies library at University College London, and several memorials and Jewish organizations, began to openly whitewash the Kyiv regime and declare that there is no ultra-right extremism in Ukraine,” Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

Zakharova cited several examples of publications where Western media noted the far-right trends that have grown in Ukraine since 2013.

“Despite the fact that the Anglo-Saxon West has been deliberately turning a blind eye to the prevailing neo-Nazi practices in Ukraine in recent years, it was impossible to ignore the fact that openly Nazi parties sit in parliament,” she added.

At the same time, the diplomat emphasized that Western media does not publish on this issue now. “The same Guardian, which warned about the dangers of Nazism a few years ago, published an article after the start of the operation where neo-Nazism in Ukraine was referred to as a ‘banal conspiracy theory’,” said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
