Peskov: It is Unclear Whether Kyiv is Aware of the Current Situation Based on Zelensky's Statements

The Ukrainian leadership continually makes contradictory statements that do not allow us to fully understand what the Ukrainian side wants and whether it is ready to acknowledge the reality of the situation. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, to journalists on Friday.

Peskov's comments were a response to a request to comment on statements made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the necessity to negotiate with Russia to cease the conflict, suggesting that the Russian side allegedly does not wish to do so.

“First of all, negotiations are currently frozen according to the line chosen by the Ukrainian side, which completely contradicts Zelensky’s stated remarks,” the Kremlin spokesperson said.

“Secondly, in general, the Ukrainian leadership is constantly making mutually contradictory statements, which prevents us from fully understanding what the Ukrainian side wants and whether it is ready to demonstrate a sober approach and recognize the current realities,” Peskov added.
