Peskov Comments on Johnson's Proposal to Create Alliance Against Russia
Russia's presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on a publication by Corriere Della Sera regarding claims that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson allegedly called for the creation of a military alliance with Kyiv against Moscow, urged to approach all media reports with skepticism.
“You know, with all due respect to Corriere Della Sera, let's treat this as just a media report. They should be questioned,” Peskov stated, as quoted by RIA Novosti. “Secondly, we do not know if there have been such initiatives from Boris Johnson. If so, it would probably mean that he is proposing to establish an internal organization that could undermine the EU's positions, meaning the positions of a pan-European union that Britain itself has left.”
He emphasized that the presidential administration does not know how accurate this information is and will monitor the developments of the situation.
Yesterday, the Italian publication Corriere Della Sera reported, referencing a source, that Johnson proposed an alliance to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to create European cooperation against Russia. It was mentioned that the alliance could also include Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, and later Turkey.
