Police Officers Received Over 3 Billion Drams in Bonuses in May

During the month of May, police officers were allocated bonuses amounting to 3.12 billion drams. This information was provided by the Police Public Relations Department in response to a query from CivilNet.

"In May of this year, a monthly bonus (for April) of 711.721.2 thousand drams, totaling 711.7 million drams, was issued, along with a one-time bonus at a single official pay rate of 2,408,733.3 thousand drams, or 2.4 billion drams. As a result, the average monthly compensation for police officers (employees), including both monthly and one-time bonuses for May, amounted to 283,000 drams, with a net of 218,100 drams," the response read.

On May 20, the police clarified regarding the awarding of bonuses to personnel. "Bonuses in the police system are not a new phenomenon. Bonuses were awarded both before the adoption of the 'Law on the remuneration of state positions and persons engaged in public service' (effective from 01.07.2014) and after. Specifically, after the law came into effect, service personnel in the system were granted bonuses of up to one official pay rate three times in 2015-2016, twice in 2017, and three times in 2018, two of which were in April, while the third was in December. Since 2019, a monthly bonus system has been implemented, however, in addition, a one-time cash bonus of up to one official pay rate has also been given at the end of the year. In the same manner, in 2020-2021, besides monthly bonuses, one-time cash bonuses were also allocated twice, up to one official pay rate," the clarification stated.
