Contact Lost with 25-member Rescue Team on Elbrus Mountain
Contact has been lost with a group of 25 Russian Emergency Situations Ministry rescuers located on Mount Elbrus. This information was reported to TASS by a source from emergency services.
"There is no communication with the group of 25 rescuers who conducted the evacuation of four tourists on Elbrus; due to deteriorating weather conditions, the group has split up. Only the approximate location of the rescuers and the tourists is known," the source stated.
The rescuers traveled to Elbrus by helicopter, which malfunctioned due to adverse weather conditions. After that, the rescuers decided to divide into separate teams. According to updated information, three teams of rescuers are located at rescue shelters, and their lives are not in danger. The remaining 11 individuals and the four tourists are in a shelter at an altitude of 5,400 meters, and as soon as the weather improves, 12 rescuers will go to assist them.
