Tatoyan Reports on Yesterday's Gunfire from Azerbaijan

Yesterday's gunfire from Azerbaijan in the Gegharkunik region and in the days leading up to it predominantly originated from positions that have been located in the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia for over a year. This refers to the incursions from May 2021. The officially confirmed gunfire from May 21, which resulted in injuries to an Armenian serviceman, occurred near the village of Norabak.

This was stated by former Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on his Facebook page. “A few days earlier, shots were fired near Verin Shorzha, including towards the civilian settlement in the village. The settlement comprises exclusively civilian residents.

Since the illegal Azerbaijani military positions have encroached upon the immediate vicinity of Armenian villages in the Gegharkunik region, their aggressive gunfire poses a real danger to the lives and health of local residents, distorting their normal way of life. Armenian servicemen are directly protecting the lives and health of the Armenian civilian population, ensuring the security of the country and its people from Azerbaijani military crimes.

It is evident that the Azerbaijani authorities are responsible for these deliberate criminal assaults—inflicting harm on the health of Armenian servicemen on May 21 in Gegharkunik, as well as disrupting the normal life and safety of the civilian population, continuing their aggression against people,” Tatoyan wrote.
