Public TV Invited to Debate, from the Heritage Faction Learned I Would Be the Debater, They Refused: Aleksanyan

The deputy of the Civil Contract faction, Vahagn Aleksanyan, has made a statement regarding an invitation for a televised debate between the opposition and the government. He wrote:

"Public television had suggested that one of our faction's deputies participate in a debate with a specific deputy from the Armenia faction. My faction replied that I, Vahagn Aleksanyan, am eager and willing to debate that deputy. However, the opposition deputy, upon learning that I would be the one to debate, refused. This is not the first time the opposition faction has declined offers to debate with me. At least a dozen times, I or my faction have received preliminary proposals for a debate involving my participation, which were later rejected by opposition deputies after our agreement. But those were different times; back then, the opposition did not declare that it has nationwide support, and, according to their logic, the government was rejected by everyone. After declaring all this, I find it quite strange that the Public TV would once again refuse to attempt to 'prove' this on air.

Therefore, I appeal to the head of the Armenia faction, the secretary, and other deputies: Let’s have a debate on Public TV. Come if you really have substantive things to say, and you are confident in their truth. Prove that all your evasions from debating with me in the past year are now behind you, and at least you perceive yourselves differently now.

P.S. Specifically for Seyran Ohanyan: I am ready to provide copies of my military service record and service characteristics on demand."
