Man Abducted, Bound and Injured with Screwdriver: Investigation Unveiled by the Investigative Committee
A case of abduction, deprivation of liberty, and exploitation has been reported in Armenia. The Investigative Committee has released this information.
According to the same source, a 39-year-old man, a relative of the friend of a 32-year-old victim, is suspected of the abduction and unlawful detention.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the incident stemmed from a dispute between the two men that dates back several years. During this confrontation, the 39-year-old threatened the 32-year-old man with a firearm, stating that he would kill him if he attempted to escape.
He then forcibly transported the victim to his private home, bound his hands and feet, injured him with an electric screwdriver, punched him in the face, and forced him to perform various tasks.
A few days later, on May 5, 2022, taking advantage of the fact that his hands and feet were no longer bound and due to the owner's negligence, the detained man managed to escape. He reported the incident to the police on May 7.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. The citizen has been recognized as a victim and has been interviewed.
As a result of the measures taken, the identity of the person suspected of abduction was established; he is a resident of Yerevan, born in 1982.
During a search of the suspect's residence, an electric screwdriver, a wooden bat, glass shards with charred traces on the walls, a knife, greenish seeds resembling hemp seeds, and cannabis plants were discovered.
The resident of Yerevan has been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
