Shepherd from Vahramaberd Village Killed in Kamkhut Explosion

An explosion occurred in the Kamkhut shooting range near the village of Vahramaberd in the Shirak region, resulting in the death of a shepherd from Vahramaberd village, born in 1957. According to "Armenpress," the area is assigned to the Russian 102nd military base located in Gyumri as a shooting range.

"There have been no military exercises in the area for the past month, and it is likely that the explosive was from remnants of old exercises," stated Karen Arshakyan, the deputy mayor of the consolidated community of Achuuryan. He noted that they always receive notifications from the military base regarding military drills, which are communicated to the residents of the area.

In the same area, in 2013, 12-year-old Arthur Mkrtchyan and 16-year-old Mushegh Gevorgyan lost their lives while playing with unexploded remnants from a grenade they found while grazing sheep.

The shepherd was married and had three children. Experts from the Russian 102nd military base are currently working in the area.
