Another Arrest Made for Violence Against Elderly Men in Gyumri

As part of the criminal investigation being conducted by the Shirak region investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee, additional investigative and procedural actions have been undertaken. Together with the staff of the RA Police, necessary measures have led to the identification of another young individual involved in the violence against elderly men during a car procession organized by the political opposition on Yerevan Avenue in Gyumri. The individual identified is Hosiek Sarkisyan, born in 2004, who has since been arrested.

It was previously reported that on May 8, 2022, a group of young men exited their vehicle and approached elderly men standing at a public transport stop on Yerevan Avenue in Gyumri, attacking them physically. The injured men are aged 74, 56, 72, and 84 years.

During the preliminary investigation, two individuals had already been arrested, one was charged, and the investigator decided to arrest the second individual as a preventive measure. Efforts are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the incident and to provide appropriate legal evaluations of their actions.
