Participant of Opposition Protest Arrested for Hitting Police Officer

A participant of an opposition protest has been arrested for hitting a police officer in the face during a march. The information was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

According to the statement, at around 10:00 AM on May 3, on Saryan Street in Yerevan, a police officer demanded that participants of the opposition march clear the roadway. After this, one of the participants hit the police officer in the face.

As a result of the measures taken, the identity of the person who committed the crime was established. This individual has been arrested on suspicion of committing crimes under Article 258, Part 1 (hooliganism) and Article 316, Part 1 (violence against a representative of the authorities) of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

The investigation is ongoing.
