Extraordinary Incident in Aragatsotn Region: Five Cattle Killed by Lightning Strike
On May 6, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Aragatsotn region. Around 19:05, the 911 emergency service received a call reporting that cattle had died as a result of a lightning strike in a barn located adjacent to the first house on 12th Street in Vardenis village.
According to Shamshyan.com, a combat unit from the 20th Fire and Rescue Brigade arrived at the scene. Rescuers determined that the deceased cattle belonged to local resident Sargis Hakobyan.
In an interview with a photojournalist, a relative of the injured said, “I was milking the cows in the barn. I had milked two and was about to milk the third when I heard loud noises in the barn. Five cattle, including a bull, a cow, calves, fell over and were making loud noises. I stepped out of the barn, and lightning struck me twice. I screamed to my neighbor that something had happened. I told her that the bull and the cow looked like they were dead. She came over, entered the barn, and then said yes, they were dead.”
