Children Have the Right to Participate in Political Gatherings – Human Rights Defender

Children have the right to participate in gatherings, including those of a political nature, announced the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Kristinne Grigoryan, in the National Assembly.

“This directly ensures the best approaches and rights to consider the child's opinion and involve them,” she stated.

According to the Human Rights Defender, however, in each case, no child's right should be prioritized or diminished. The most important principle, according to Kristinne Grigoryan, is the best interest of the child.

“Parents, guardians, and those legally responsible for the child must evaluate and also guide the child to consciously exercise this right,” emphasized the Armenian Human Rights Defender. She expressed concern about children appearing in footage at political gatherings and being targeted.
