Barcelona's Last Telephone Booth Vandalized
Barcelona's only telephone booth, opened on April 23 as an outdoor mini-library and information center, has been closed two days later due to vandalism attacks. This was reported by Газета, referencing The Guardian.
The attackers spray-painted graffiti on the booth and stole a small screen that displayed information about local events. “We expect that those responsible for these unacceptable and unforgivable acts will be held accountable. Vandalism has no place in Barcelona,” said Barcelona's Deputy Mayor Jaume Collboni regarding the incident.
The classic telephone booth, made of walls and glass, was refurbished into a book exchange and information center, equipped with a mobile phone charging station. By using a code obtained from the nearby community center, visitors could download 200 books while charging their phones.
