Mardakert Resident Steals Villager's Bank Card and Withdraws Large Sum of Money

A resident of Mardakert had his bank card and password stolen from his bedroom, leading to a withdrawal of 1,146,400 AMD.

K.I. has canceled the bank card's activity at the Drmbon branch of Artsakhbank and has received a new plastic card, but the damage incurred is significant.

Details were provided by the Artsakh police. On April 21, Mardakert resident K.I. (born 1999) reported that on September 9, 2021, he received a message on his phone regarding a withdrawal of 431,000 AMD from his bank card at Artsakhbank. Subsequently, another message on October 4 informed him of an additional withdrawal of 321,500 AMD from his IDRAM electronic wallet.

From November 26 to December 10, 2021, he was away from his residence and had placed the bank card in his bedroom. Upon returning home on December 10, he received yet another message indicating a withdrawal of 393,900 AMD from an ATM.

Confirming that both the bank card and password had been stolen from his bedroom, K.I. canceled the card at the Artsakhbank Drmbon branch and received a new card. The total damage amounted to 1,146,400 AMD.

Through operational investigative measures taken by the police, it was discovered that at approximately 16:00 on December 6, 2021, K.I.'s bank card was stolen from his bedroom by his fellow villager A.M. (born 2000). A.M. then withdrew the available funds in Yerevan on December 7 for personal use.

A.M. has been detained by the Mardakert regional police department.
