Blinken: We Are Against Any Unilateral Actions, Especially by Azerbaijan, That Escalate the Situation in Nagorno-Karabakh
The United States opposes any unilateral actions, especially by Azerbaijan, that only escalate the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a hearing with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as reported by Bagramyan26.
“I have been very actively and directly engaging with the leaders of both Armenia and Azerbaijan. In particular, just a week ago, I had phone conversations with Prime Minister Pashinyan and President Aliyev, as well as with the foreign ministers of these countries, trying to promote the prospects for a long-term political settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue,” said Blinken.
According to him, Washington is “developing and promoting various confidence-building measures” in this context. “We are against any unilateral actions, especially by Azerbaijan, that only escalate the situation,” the head of American diplomacy emphasized.
