Artsakh Must Always Be Armenian, Standing Strong and Unyielding: Araik Harutyunyan's Message
The President of the Republic of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, delivered a message on April 24 in connection with the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Genocide.
In the message, he stated:
“Dear compatriots,
During these days in Artsakh, as well as in Mother Armenia and various corners of the world where at least one Armenian lives, we mourn and commemorate the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, the 1.5 million innocent Armenians who fell victim to the horrific state-sponsored program implemented by the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
This was a crime not only against the Armenian people but against all of humanity, and a stain for all those who still have not acknowledged and condemned it, paving the way for new massacres and crimes.
More than a hundred years after the Great Genocide, we are once again facing serious challenges; we are again forced to fight for the protection of national and universal values, fundamental human rights, and freedoms, for the full realization of our natural right to live freely and independently on our own land.
Before the eyes of the whole world, Azerbaijan continues to overtly implement anti-Armenian and militaristic policies against the people of Artsakh, grossly violating and trampling on all norms and principles of universally accepted and recognized international law.
The progressive humanity of the world must stand beside the peaceful population of Artsakh, because we have no alternative; we are resolute in our decision to live and create on the soil of our ancestors, a land that has been sanctified by the blood of thousands of sons of the Armenian people.
For the memory of our holy martyrs, for the future of our generations, Artsakh must always be Armenian, standing strong and unyielding.”
