Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, 'Grey Wolves' salute is disgusting, former Foreign Minister to Çavuşoğlu

Former Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan has addressed Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Twitter, responding to his gesture made in Uruguay in reaction to Armenian protesters demanding recognition of the Genocide. Çavuşoğlu had shown the 'Grey Wolves' salute to representatives of the Armenian community, which was met with applause from the Turkish crowd.

Mnatsakanyan wrote: 'Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the 'Grey Wolves' salute is disgusting, vile, and racist. Hitler salutes from his grave…'.

It is noteworthy that this form of greeting among Turkish nationalists was banned in Austria in 2019. In Germany, the Christian Democratic Union and The Left Party also proposed a ban on this gesture in 2018, labeling it as fascist.
