Aliyev: The Negotiation Process Ended with the Words 'Artsakh is Armenia and That's It'
On April 22, the 5th World Azerbaijani Congress kicked off in the city of Shushi, which came under Baku's control following the 44-day war. During the event, President Ilham Aliyev addressed the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to him, “In 2019, the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group practically ceased, due to the extremely strange behavior of the new leadership of Armenia.” He noted, “When the new leadership of Armenia came to power in 2018, both in the Minsk Group and in our circles, we had certain hopes that the new generation of political leaders would understand the reality that they are incapable of waging war against Azerbaijan. However, in 2019, the Armenian leadership adopted a completely different position. The absurd statements made by the country's leadership effectively put an end to the negotiation process. The negotiation process concluded with the words 'Artsakh is Armenia and that's it', and after this statement, the Minsk Group that visited me was left in a very uncertain state. After this statement, it was impossible to conduct any negotiations, as the essence of the negotiations was that the occupied territories would be liberated,” Aliyev said.
