Today is Silence Day in France, during which campaigning is prohibited ahead of the second round of presidential elections scheduled for April 24.
French President Emmanuel Macron, who is running for a second term, will spend this day at his family home in Le Touquet by the seaside. Meanwhile, his rival, Marine Le Pen, the candidate from the National Rally party, will be in the commune of Hénin-Beaumont in Pas-de-Calais, TASS reports.
Macron is the frontrunner in the second round of the electoral race, with 55.5% of voters ready to cast their vote for him. His opponent, according to sociologists, can count on 44.5% of the votes. In the first round held on April 10, Macron received 27.84% of the votes, while Le Pen received 23.15%.
