Supplying Tanks to Ukraine Could Lead to Nuclear War: Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has expressed concern that providing tanks to Ukraine could trigger a nuclear war. Scholz, who has faced severe criticism for not supplying heavy weapons to Ukraine, made these remarks in an interview with Spiegel.

“Everything must be done to avoid military confrontation between NATO and a superpower like Russia. I will do everything possible to prevent an escalation that could lead to a Third World War. A nuclear war cannot occur. That is why it is even more important that we consider each step very carefully and coordinate closely with each other. For me, avoiding escalation in the NATO direction is a priority. That is why I do not focus on inquiries or allow myself to be disturbed by noisy calls. The consequences of a mistake would be dramatic,” Scholz stated.
