I am not aware of the 'fate' of that application: Peskov

The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, did not comment on the request of former Ukrainian MP Ilya Kyva regarding the granting of Russian citizenship.

“Unfortunately, I cannot say how the complaint was sent and where it should go, so I cannot say anything here,” said the Kremlin spokesman on Friday in response to journalists' questions.

On Thursday, former Rada MP Ilya Kyva published an open letter on his Telegram channel, addressing President Vladimir Putin, requesting political asylum and Russian citizenship.

On March 6, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine charged Kyva with violating the territorial integrity of the country and committing state treason. Kyva himself stated that he left for Spain due to persecution and then moved to Russia. Later, he was stripped of his mandate during a Rada session. On March 16, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine announced a wanted notice for the former MP. On March 29, the bureau charged Kyva with promoting war and calling for the violent overthrow of the government in Ukraine.
