Unsanitary Conditions and Stench in Norq-Marash
In the administrative district of Norq-Marash, Yerevan, it seems that some officials from the district leader's staff are behaving as if they were from another planet. For months, wastewater from several manholes installed near 91 G. Hovsepyan street has been inundating an entire street, while the newly appointed district leader Mikael Ohanyan and the head of the municipal department Gevorg Grigoryan seem to be 'sleeping in the ears of a camel' regarding this pressing issue. This was reported by Shamshyan.com.
While the former district leader Edmond Ghazaryan responded promptly to citizens' complaints, even organizing special equipment to remove all the accumulated sludge from the manholes, the situation changed after the appointment of the new mayor M. Ohanyan. Now neither the mayor nor Grigoryan have bothered to visit the site or compel 'Veolia Jur' to resolve the issue, as the officials of the mayor's office state that the responsible party is 'Veolia Jur'. Furthermore, Grigoryan has even declined to respond to residents' phone calls. Apparently, he already has the instinct that people are calling him about the wastewater issue.
As of today, April 21, the same unsanitary conditions prevailed on the mentioned street. However, both the newly elected mayor and the head of the municipal department did not respond to calls from residents and our inquiries.
The only hope left for residents is the city mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, although there are rumors that this new mayor is also one of his appointees, who seems to be in a state of apathy and is not concerned with this problem.
As earlier reported by SHAMSHYAN.com, on March 18, under the leadership of Edmond Ghazaryan, officials from the municipal department, led by Gevorg Grigoryan, once again removed the clogged sewage from several manholes installed near 91 G. Hovsepyan street using special equipment. Residents have been complaining to 'Veolia Jur' for almost four months, asking them to take action beyond just collecting payments.
They have informed that the filled manholes are causing a stench in the area. In addition, during this winter weather, wastewater has inundated the streets, leading to incidents where people have slipped. Initially, 'Veolia Jur' responded that they were aware of the issue, but later, as the residents stated, they 'put their two feet in one shoe' and refused to carry out any work, claiming that this section is not theirs.
