Danish Prime Minister Announces Additional Weapons Shipment to Ukraine
The Danish government will send an additional batch of weapons to Ukraine. This was announced on Thursday by the Prime Minister of the Scandinavian country, Mette Frederiksen, in an interview with TV 2, as reported by TASS.
"We intend to send even more weapons to Ukraine; this is absolutely necessary," said the Prime Minister, who is currently visiting Kyiv. She did not specify which types of weapons would be handed over to the Ukrainian side.
According to the television channel, during the day the head of the Danish government will meet with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Frederiksen is the first among the leaders of Scandinavian countries to visit Ukraine since the Russian operation began in February.
Earlier, Denmark sent 2,700 portable anti-tank systems to Kyiv. The Danish police announced on Tuesday that the port of Koge will be declared a "temporary military zone" starting Wednesday. The area will be used for the transportation of military equipment to Latvia if the kingdom's parliament supports sending an 800-person battalion there.
The Danish authorities have also announced that they need to assist in rebuilding Ukraine.
