Photos: Police Colonel Attacks Security Staff with Weapon at Hospital

An extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan on April 14. Around 22:20, the Erebuni police department received a report that an individual armed with a weapon had attacked a staff member at the Muratsan Hospital and assaulted him.

It was found that the security staff member of the mentioned hospital, Vahagn Shirinyan, was on duty when a civilian attempted to enter the hospital. However, V. Shirinyan informed him that access to the hospital was prohibited at that hour, which angered the individual. According to the statement by V. Shirinyan, the individual armed himself and attacked him, causing bodily harm. Afterward, a group of people arrived at the hospital and continued to obstruct their work, attacking and inflicting blows, which was also recorded by the hospital's surveillance cameras.

In connection with the incident, materials are being prepared in the Erebuni police department's investigative division.

According to SHAMSHYAN’s reports, the man identified by V. Shirinyan is Armen Hakobyan, the former head of the Armenian Road Police, the former head of the Internal Security Division of the Armenian Police, and a police colonel.
