Volkswagen Employees Trapped in Shanghai Factory Due to Covid-19

Workers trapped at the Volkswagen Group factory in Shanghai have been provided with activities after production was halted due to a lockdown declared in the city, reports Automotive News.

The Shanghai Volkswagen factory suspended operations on April 1, but some employees were on-site around the clock to maintain work processes. However, the factory management soon changed its plans and completely stopped production. Unable to return home due to quarantine, the workers remain at their workplace.

To keep employees engaged, the company has organized group activities that begin with a walk around the factory at 10 AM. This is followed by lunch and relaxation, movie viewing, and free time. At 4 PM, workers head to the gym.

Afterward, employees take showers, have dinner, watch more movies, and then go to sleep. Each morning starts with a rapid coronavirus test. It remains unclear when they will be able to return home.
