Video: Homeowner Hidden Behind Door Strikes Burglar on Head with Hammer

On April 5, officers from the Bazum police station witnessed a man aged 30-35 running out with a head injury on Shinarar Street in Vanadzor. According to the police information department, the man was bleeding, wearing gloves, and holding a knife. Behind him, another man with a hammer was chasing and shouting 'Catch him!'

Police officers, including a criminal investigator and a supervisor from the juvenile affairs and domestic violence prevention unit, quickly pursued them. During the chase, the bleeding man dropped the knife and threw away his work gloves, but it was not enough; the police apprehended him. After calming the situation at the scene, they took both men to the station, where all questions received comprehensive answers.

It turned out that the man with the hammer was a resident of Shinarar Street, while the knife-wielding individual had criminal intentions. What happened before they ran out into the street is as follows: The homeowner heard a strange noise and approached the door. Looking through the peephole, he noticed someone wearing sunglasses and a medical mask trying to open the door. Realizing the person was there to commit a burglary, he took the hammer for self-defense and hid behind the door.

He didn't wait long; with the use of technical means, the masked person managed to open the door, but was only able to take a step or two inside. The hidden homeowner struck him on the head with the hammer. The impact caused the intruder's glasses and mask to fall off, and he fled into the street with a bleeding head wound.

After treating the head wound and necessary actions, the police presented the 33-year-old man to the Lori region investigative department, where a criminal case was initiated regarding the incident. He has been arrested and subsequently detained by court order.
